In 20 words or less, what is the best thing about being part of this department?
It’s a close knit and supportive community that encourages collaboration and personal growth.

What is your advice to first years and sophomores about getting connected to this department?
Don’t be intimidated by subject material, if it interests you, take the class! Upperclassmen and professors are here to help you!

What is the most valuable thing you’ve learned at K?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. It can be intimidating to reach out to professors and fellow students, but remember that people are here to support you. Your community and your peers are your greatest resources.

What has been your favorite class at K? Why?
Classical Mythology – it’s a great class to get introduced to the department and the material, and is dynamic and interesting for new students.

How have you taken advantage of the open curriculum or experienced breadth in your education?
We both have taken a variety of different classes outside of our departments. We started out freshman year unsure about our majors, but because of the open curriculum, we were able to explore classes in various departments before landing on classics!

What experiential education opportunities have you participated in?
We’ve both taken advantage of internship opportunities available, and are planning on studying abroad in Rome in the fall.

What are your career aspirations/next steps after K?
We are both planning on taking a gap year to gain more life experiences before continuing on to graduate school.
